Pentax K-5 II,  Vivitar 35-70 f2.8-3.8,  Canon SD 550.  When a DSLR camera accidentally fell to the ground, the mounting plate would warp.  The heavier and the longer the lens, the more curved will be the warp.  In most cases, the screw(s) at the warp would become detached.  [See first two photos].  With slight warp, the camera can still be used to take photos of subjects no more than 20 feet away by holding and forcing the lens firmly towards the mounting plate (so as to flatten the warp to achieve a normalized focus).  Images at infinity distance would become blurred and wide-angle shots become unclear.  Save the battery for another camera in kind.

When not in use, the camera and the lens should be separated and stored safely.
